What Xbox Series X Games Should You Buy?

Pre-orders for the Xbox Series X went live last week, and now a lot of you are probably wondering what comes next. Launch day is rapidly approaching and you’re counting down every last second. It’s time to think about what Xbox Series X games you should buy on launch!

Exclusives

The Xbox Series X has a few exclusives on launch (not that it really needs them). Here’s a few you should consider buying to make launch day extra special.

Gears Tactics

Gears Tactics launched on PC earlier this year to critical acclaim, and now it’s set to make it’s console debut. It will launch alongside the Series X on November 10th, and it’s the one console exclusive you’ll have available on launch. With such positive reviews, it’s certainly one of the Series X games you should buy this Holiday.

Gears Tactics changes up the traditional Gears formula, offering a fast-paced turn-based strategy game set in the Gears of War universe. It serves an emotional, intense story set before the original game, acting as a prequel to the classic franchise.

Yakuza: Like A Dragon

Yakuza: Like A Dragon is a strange one. It launches November 10th as a next-generation console exclusive to the Series X, but then launches a few days later on current gen machines like the Xbox One and PS4. However, PS5 gamers will have to wait a bit longer for Yakuza to launch it’s next-gen upgrade on that system. So, if you want to experience Yakuza: Like A Dragon in the best possible way, it is definitely a game you should buy for Series X on November 10th.

Yakuza: Like A Dragon is the 8th main release in the popular franchise. It promises to mix up the formula with a new protagonist and new combat system. If you’re a series veteran don’t panic – the game launched in Japan earlier this year to critical acclaim. When it finally makes it’s Western debut on November 10th, it’s one of the games you should buy on Xbox Series X.

Multiplatform Titles

There are a handful of other games you can jump into on November 10th too, and they are probably titles you already want to buy. Here are a few other Xbox Series X games you should buy on launch.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

If you’re excited for the next instalment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise then you’re in luck. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was originally slated to launch November 17th, but was moved forward a week to coincide with the launch of the Xbox Series X and S. Now launching on November 10th, the game seems to be the ultimate Viking fantasy. The game will launch on every platform simultaneously. However, since the PS5 launches later that week, the Xbox Series X is the definitive way to play Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on release. It’s one of the biggest blockbuster releases this Holiday season, making it a title you’ll probably already want to buy.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light

Destiny 2 is changing, and you should be there to witness it. Heading into it’s 4th year of content, the game is now free to play. However, there are a few large expansions for players to buy. Beyond Light is the latest expansion, launching on November 10th alongside the new Xbox consoles. The expansion adds a new playable area called Europa, a frozen moon of Jupiter, alongside a new subclass for Hunter, Warlock and Titan.

This is a larger revamp than usual, cycling out old content that’s become less crucial to the Destiny 2 experience, whilst also re-introducing legacy content from the original Destiny. For example, players will have the opportunity to try the renowned Vault of Glass from Destiny 1, as it is being added to Destiny 2 in 2021 as part of the Year 4 content cycle. To make way for the introduction of Europa and Destiny 1‘s Cosmodrome, many locations such as Mars, Io and Mercury will be cycled out into the Destiny Content Vault. This gives the development team time to rework these locations and see how they can fit into the new Destiny 2 experience.

Now is a great time to get into Destiny 2. Bungie have announced similar large expansions for 2021 and 2022, meaning we will get at least two more years of content. Destiny 2‘s current expansions ‘Shadowkeep‘ and ‘Forsaken‘ are available with Xbox Game Pass, and ‘Beyond Light‘ will also be added at no extra cost on launch. There’s really no better time to jump into Destiny 2, and Xbox Series X is the best place for that.

Of course, these are only a few of the titles available on November 10th. Tetris Effect: Connected will release exclusively for the Xbox Series X on November 10th. Watch Dogs Legion will receive a free next-gen upgrade which also comes to Xbox Series X on launch. There are plenty more games to come just after launch too. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will launch November 13th, and the highly-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 will release November 19th, playable through backwards compatibility. Cyberpunk 2077 will also receive a more robust free next-gen upgrade in 2021.

These are just some of the Xbox Series X games you should buy this November. Which games will you be buying? Let me know in the comments below, or over on my social media. November 10th can’t come soon enough!
