‘Gotham Knights’ and ‘Suicide Squad’ Announced

This weekend DC have held their DC Fandome Event. There, Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad were announced, clearly styled after the Arkham series – but you won’t be playing as Batman!

Bat Cycle? Check. Most dynamic Gotham City yet? Check. A whole Bat-Family to play as? Check! Gotham Knights, a new open world action RPG, brings it all. Set after Bruce Wayne’s death, Robin, Batgirl, Red Hood and Nightwing team up to become the new Gotham Knights! They need to rise to the occasion and become the hero Batman used to be! They later confirmed that this isn’t set in the same continuity as the Arkham games, offering a new take on the characters.

This isn’t just the usual Arkham affair either. You’ll be able to team up with another player to bring hope to the streets of Gotham in online co-op. Of course, you can play solo too if that’s your thing, but I can’t wait to roam Gotham in multiplayer. You might need the extra help too, as you’ll be going up against Gotham’s many criminals, the Gotham City Police Department and the ominous Court of Owls. This is set to be the most exciting DC game we’ve had yet, and I can’t wait to see more. You can see the gameplay trailer below. Gotham Knights will be coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC in 2021.

Of course, there’s another big game we all knew about. In 2022 we’ll finally be able to Kill The Justice League in the upcoming Suicide Squad game. This features 4 very different playable characters – Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark and Captain Boomerang. The Squad will be able to explore an open-world Metropolis whilst attempting to kill none other than Superman himself. Seems like a tough gig, but I’m sure they’ll pull it off… or die trying (there’s a bomb in their heads so it could get messy).

Suicide Squad lets players go wild together in 4 player online multiplayer. Solo is an option here as well, but the team will be populated by bots which you can switch between at will. Shockingly, this game is set in the Arkham Universe, even though it is very different in tone. Either way, I’m excited to finally get my hands on the game. We’ll be waiting a while though, as Suicide Squad will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X and PC in 2022. At least we’ll have Gotham Knights in the meantime! Check out the trailer for Suicide Squad below.

Hi, I'm Hayden! I'm an editor for the site and also a member of the Generation Xbox Podcast! I'm a big fan of RPGs (tabletop and video games!), but I've also got a huge sweet spot for Survival games. Zombie Survival games are a big yes in my book. Oh, and if you still watch The Walking Dead, I'm your guy!
