Today, Sony revealed that they will have a State of Play on Thursday 6th August. They’ve said it will be 40+ minutes long and will have a focus on third-party games coming to PS4 and PSVR. However, they will also have a few updates on third-party and indie titles coming to PS5 which we last saw in June’s PS5 Showcase.
Sony promises plenty of new gameplay footage for us to feast our eyes on, but don’t tell us which games we will get to see. They do add more information to temper expectations though, saying “just to be super clear — there will be no PlayStation Studios updates in Thursday’s episode.” So, we won’t be seeing more from any first-party titles launching on PS5 like Spider-Man: Miles Morales or Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.

They go on to say “there won’t be any updates around hardware, business, preorders, or dates either. On Thursday, our focus is squarely on showcasing some cool upcoming games coming to the broader PlayStation ecosystem.” So, we won’t be getting a price or release date reveal for the upcoming console either, although I doubt they can wait much longer as the Playstation 5 is expected to launch in just 3 short months.

As soon as we hear more about preorders and price, I’ll be sure to let you all know! Are you excited for Thursday’s State of Play? Let me know in the comments below or over on my social medias.
