The Summer fun continues in the Animal Crossing August Update! Here’s some of the new content that’s been added to the island getaway.
Firstly, firework shows will happen on your island every Sunday through August. You can get as creative as you want with these by making custom firework designs. Redd will be venturing off his boat for these celebrations, setting up a raffle near Resident Services. We won’t know what the raffle entails until Sunday, but Redd is known for his shady dealings so watch out!
Another exciting new feature being added in the Animal Crossing August Update is the Dream Suite. To access this feature simply take a nap in your bed and you will be visited by Luna. She will ask for a ‘dream code’ which will let you visit another island in a dream.
This is different from flying there because to visit the island in a dream, the other player doesn’t need to be online. You can explore and gain inspiration for your own island, or just spend some time relaxing on the island. Don’t worry about your island getting ruined – any changes made in the dream will not be saved, so share your dream code and give the community some inspiration!
Some cute new items have also been added. Balloons, party poppers, sparklers and some glowing headbands are now available to help celebrate. But that’s not all! There are a few surprise additions to help liven up your island life. Find a gold nugget and you will get a new recipe idea – a King Tut mask! Sprint around wearing it to see what happens! The Nook Mile Program is also offering a new item to spend your miles on – Tommy’s little flag from when you first started the game!
There’s one more big addition for the update. For those of you living in the constant fear of your Nintendo Switch breaking and your island being lost forever, fear no more! There is now an island backup service which will let you save the island to the cloud in case your Switch is lost or broken. Here’s the quote from Nintendo to help you fully understand the new service:
‘Nintendo Switch Online members can enable the new island backup service, which automatically uploads island and user save data to the internet at certain times. If your Nintendo Switch system is lost or damaged, you may be able to recover your island paradise as long as you’ve enabled island backup. In the event of loss or damage, contact Nintendo Consumer Support about restoring the island and user save data on your new or repaired Nintendo Switch system. After your island data and individual player data is restored, you can get back to building your island community.’
Get online and take part in the August celebrations! But before you do, make sure to enable island backups so your island is safe forever!
